Ninety-two victims of the windstorm and twister that hit seven villages in Kemaman district last May 25 have received assistance to repair or rebuild their damaged houses.
Ninety-two victims of the windstorm and twister that hit seven villages in Kemaman district last May 25 have received assistance to repair or rebuild their damaged houses.
Menteri Besar Ahmad Said said 84 houses have been rehabilitated while five were being repaired.
“Three houses that were totally destroyed are being rebuilt under the hardcore poor housing programme at a cost of RM33,000 each. Construction will start next week,” he told reporters after the presentation of assistance to the villages at SK Bukit Anak Dara near Kemaman today.
The seven villages were Kampung Bukit Anak Dara, which was the worst affected, Kampung Tengah, Kampung Darat, Kampung Titian Berayun, Kampung Ibai Penunjuk, Kampung Che Wan and Kampung Teluk Kalong.
Each household mainly comprising farmers and fishermen received RM15,000 from Terengganu Agrobank and RM30,000 from Petronas’ east coast regional office.
Agrobank CEO Wan Mohd Fadzmi Wan Othman said the bank also contributed RM1,000 to SK Bukit Anak Dara, and between RM100 and RM500 as well as household essentials to every victim, depending on the extent of their displacement.
