Pakatan Rakyat has revealed that the coalition intends to contest in the next general election under its respective component party banners.

PKR vice president Tian Chua said in a Sin Chew Daily report today, this will go ahead even if the Registrar of Societies (ROS) gives official recognition to the coalition tomorrow.

azlan He said even though a last minute approval will allow the coalition to contest under a joint banner, there were concerns that voters cannot identify Pakatan's logo in such a short time and this could create confusion.

Previously, Pakatan had not moved to formalised its coalition with the ROS on grounds that at least six parties were required in a formal political coalition and it only had three, namely PKR, PAS and DAP.

The ROS later clarified that there was no such rule, prompting the coalition to file a formal application.

However, the application was left hanging after the departure of Pakatan pro-tem chairperson Zaid Ibrahim who was in charge in formulating the common policy framework for the coalition.

Following this the ROS said that Pakatan had yet to file a new application but the coalition leaders insists that it had done so but was turned down by ROS.

PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution had said Pakatan Rakyat intends to formalise the coalition and will continue to pursue the matter.
