AG robs police of authority with CPC amendments

your say Odin: Former Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Mat Zain Ibrahim's exposés have revealed the putrefaction in high places.

Until now, his accusations have gone unchallenged. Meaning, his statements have all been 100 percent factual.

Obviously, former inspector-general of police (IGP) Musa Hasan and attorney-general (AG) Abdul Gani Patail are of the same low level as the likes of alleged crime lord Goh Cheng Poh or Tengku Goh.

They are maggots thriving in an over-sized pustule that is the BN.

Asamko: Now we are beginning to see how an AG serving an evil government can interfere and change the course of police investigations with the help of the 2007 amendment of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC).

Two of PM Najib Razak's security personnel were convicted and are facing the death sentence for the murder of a Mongolian woman, Altantuya Shaariibuu, for reasons and motives unknown.

It's time for the police force to now reclaim their investigative authority and independence.

Anonymouse: It is simply a natural law where unethical parties that form an unholy alliance will eventually turn against each other. What we're seeing is the beginning of a 'dog eat dog' show.

It may be that the corrupt judiciary was working hand in hand with the equally corrupt police, but in time they will vie for even more power and find opportunities to stab each other in the back.

They can't help it, it's the nature of corruption.

Not Confused: This revelation adds more fuel to the fire slowly smouldering under the AG.

This man has far too much power and he uses it in partial ways - it is now becoming more clear every day.

Like the home minister, there is too much power resting with a number of ministers, which can do things without any recourse to the courts or Parliament.

This is not how a true democracy should work - and Najib publicly states that Malaysia is a model democracy. Really?

Doc: And there you have it, the million ringgit question. Who is running the country? Is it the PM? Is it the PM's wife? Is it the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police)? Is it the Umnoputras? Is it the ex-PM (the senile one)?

The answer - the AG! He has amassed power by manipulating the law.

Thinking Rationally: Musa Hasan himself was a qualified lawyer and he would have studied the implication of the amendments before agreeing.

The fact that incomplete investigation papers are submitted to the AG does not mean that the police may not continue with its investigation and they can submit additional papers later with its recommendation whether to prosecute.

Most of us know what is happening. Only the leadership of the evil Umno Baru government thinks we don't. But we still need someone like you to convince those stubborn fence-sitters and those very ignorant.

Jesse: A rotten leadership coupled with a complicit AG spells disaster for the rule of law. Now add in a police force largely in cahoots with the corrupt government, and there is no hope for the nation.

AGM: For every high-profile crime or corruption case that Abdul Gani Patail sits on and prevents from going to court, there is another layer of security for him.

He could probably bring down every VIP in the government with what he knows, Najib especially.

They've done a deal with the devil, and now are stuck with him. Sacrifice him, and the whole lot of them go down. Don't hold your breath.

KJ John: It is time to get rid of this scheming AG. I hope all IGPs see the true light of facts and figure their way forward.

The law is not to protect the citizens, it is meant to protect the government ministers, civil servants and officials.
