If it is found that they have amassed their wealth through corruption, well, jail and flog them for all to see.

We have also heard that one ex-premier was known as ‘Mr Ten Percent' for all the mega and not-so-mega jobs he initiated.

He is not even known as a millionaire today. But his sons are - one is a multi-millionaire and the other a billionaire. There is nothing exceptional about his sons' abilities and expertise. Maybe they were just born lucky.

So far, we can only be satisfied with rumours we hear and make our own inferences and deductions about how they accumulate their wealth.

In those days, one can move millions of ringgit by verbal instructions to a CEO of a bank without a paper trail? I thought only money lenders/changers could do that but not our banks.

My advice to Anwar, if that is true, you should ask for the money that the CEO transferred without your authority to be paid back.

Anonyxyz: All these reports could very well be true because at that time, Anwar being the finance minister, was carrying out his job on behalf of Umno, headed by Dr Mohamad Mahathir. And all these transactions were to Umno cronies.

Hence, when he was sacked, Mahathir immediately wanted the finance minister position for another crony - Daim Zainuddin - and after that, took it for himself.

There was no one person behind all the stealing in Mahathir's era but a whole team of Umno bigwits, with the executioner being the finance minister.

Blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin, in exposing Anwar/Azmin Ali is just telling the electorate that PKR is equally corrupted as the current Umno chaps.

His aim is to deny PKR victory, while giving the nod to PAS or DAP, with the final results favouring BN.

PM 'missed opportunity' to clear name over Scorpene

Bender: It's a lose-lose situation for Premier Najib Abdul Razak and BN. Najib's refusal to delve into the issue is not going to make the whole thing go away.

If anything, it's going to make people want more explanation, and without anyone to clear the air, the public can draw their own conclusion, which is not going to be pretty.

And if a miracle happens and Najib finally has the balls to face the music, he's still not going to be off the hook, because he has nothing to say that will not implicate him.

For the time being, denial is his only option and while he still has access to the mainstream media, he'll use them to pull a blanket over the issue, and lie to the countryabout his dire predicament.

The only way out for Najib is to make sure the elections are properly rigged to ensure a victory for BN. And that takes us back to square one - a clean and fair election.

By disallowing Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar's question, it only serves to cement the rakyat's perception that indeed our national defence secrets were sold to a third party for a huge sum of money, and large commissions were paid to people linked to Najib.

Kim Quek: The speaker has clearly mis-applied Standing Order 23(1)(h) to reject Nurul's motion.

For the umpteenth time, the speaker has acted like a stone wall to block motions unfavourable to BN without valid grounds, making a complete mockery of our parliamentary democracy.

Perhaps, the MPs should seriously consider what legal means are at their disposal to deal with such a hopelessly partisan speaker, who is a complete disgrace, to say the least.

Moto Isjen: Pandikar caused the obstacle in Parliament so as to not allow Najib to clear his name. Pack Pandikar off before he causes further damage to the nation.

I suggest that he be tied up to a big tree in the dense jungle in the middle of North Borneo for three months.

Gobsmacked!: It does not appear that neither Najib nor the defence minister are able to clear their names.

If they were able to do so, they would not have to wait for Parliament to reconvene and to be asked.

They have the mainstream press at their beck and call and could easily issue a statement clearing their names and it would be broadcast not only in the press but also on radio and television.

And mind you, nobody in the media would check the veracity of their statement before publishing it.

Dhammika: The House speaker should not under any circumstances reject Nurul's motion when it involves defence secrets being sold. It is a shameful act to disallow the motion from being debated.

Najib must be given the opportunity to answer on his involvement.

However, Najib still has another opportunity to speak out in the French courts. However you look at it, the government is still accountable and is responsible to answer to the rakyat.

Up2U: This is where power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Where else would a sitting prime minister and a defence minister discard the opportunity to explain themselves?

Our constitution must be changed whereby the speaker and deputy speaker are recommended and accepted by both sides of the political divide and appointed by the Agong.

Headhunter: No way the speaker would dare let the motion be passed in the Dewan. It would be opening a can of rotten worms and we all know where they are coming from.

The only way for the matter to be brought up for debate is when Pakatan is in power. Meanwhile, we wait with bated breath.

Needless to say, it will have a very profound impact considering that it involves murder, massive corruption, compromise of the country's security, selling of military secrets and god-knows-what other evil deeds they were involved in.

One may probably able to sweep everything under the carpet within one's own small household, but the Scorpene issue has spread worldwide for all and sundry to see.
