A babysitter has been charged with the murder of a baby girl under her care.      

Tan Siew Bee, 42, a single mother, allegedly murdered four-month-old Lim Xiu Yao at a rented house in Jalan Panti, Taman Bandar, Batu Pahat between May 29 and 31, 2012.

The prosecution, represented by deputy public prosecutor Safiah Abdul Aziz, was conducted in Ward 4 of the Batu Pahat Hospital, where the accused was still receiving treatment for a broken leg.

The charge was read out in Mandarin but no plea was recorded from Tan, who was not represented.

Batu Pahat Sessions Court Registrar Rosmaliana Osman set July 11 for re-mention.
