YOURSAY ‘Mr & Mrs Panda, I would suggest you request for a condo as we have condos for cows in Malaysia.'
PM's call for panda names met with banter
Hmmmmmmmm:
How about naming the two pandas Ubah (change) and Abu (Anything but Umno)?
I hope the Chinese government is not banking on getting these pandas back alive after 10 years.
Ben-ghazi: Do take care of these pandas and don't let them die in custody, like what happened to some Malaysians under the watchful eyes of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
Oh, about naming these animals, how about Birkin and Birkina?
Lover Boy: Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali, these are really pendatangs from Negeri Cina. Are you not going to send your army to protest against these pendatangs? Please get your people and register your protest against these Chinese pandas.
Every Vote Counts: Call them Panda and Datang - Pan-datang.
Pick-a-bone: Maybe we can name them Mahathir - a soon-to-be extinct species.
Ally Meme: Knowing our capability with the animals in the zoo - I just pray that the pandas do not die on us during their term of loan.
Hero325: These young minds who posted their comments in Najib's Chinese Facebook page are already poisoned by the cyber world, some of them may not be youngsters but Pakatan cybertroopers out to disturb the prime minister.
The poor PM doesn't need to waste time on these people. If you were to give them the vote, they will vote out the government right now, no matter how the government tries to woo them.
CHKS: Even if they are really kindergarten kids, the kids will grow up and mature, but leaving the country to the corrupted and abusive parents will certainly doom the country before the kids ever have a chance to grow up.
If we don't do anything, there is nothing left for the next generation.
Isana: No past PM of Malaysia is as soiled as Najib. That's why he is being mocked. Even Fraser & Neave (F&N) is uneasy with the PM's picture on the 100Plus can .
And adding in his wife, the so-called First Lady of Malaysia (FLOM), they have become the most despised couple in Malaysia. And yes, throw in his future son-in-law too. No wonder the general election is being delayed again and again.
Anonymous #18452573: Merdeka Centre head Ibrahim Suffian is right. Not only has Najib's attempt to engage Chinese youths through Facebook failed to change the perception of his target audience, Najib also has failed to change Umno, corruption, cronyism, nepotism and his wife's image and spending habits, to name a few.
Ibrahim may actually be surprised to know that the youth today are a lot smarter.
Telestai!: Why does Ibrahim assume that the Facebook comments came from young people.
I've a lot of Facebook friends who are in their 40s to 70s. Many of them have a similar sense of disrespect for ‘Ah Jib Gor' for obvious reasons.
Anyway, there are more pressing issues to attend to than wasting time on naming the pandas?
Unspin: Ibrahim, your theory about our younger generation having a "lack of deference to leaders" and "misplaced sense of freedom" is flawed.
Younger people - regardless of which generation they belong to - are naturally "rebellious" in general. The only difference today is that they have an instant platform to air their views due to social media and the Internet.
When you have a leader like Najib who speaks with a forked tongue and lives the life of a hypocrite (for example, asking people to tighten their belts while his wife bought 60 silk dresses in one shopping spree), what do you expect young people to think?
Moreover, the two pandas are an election ploy and everyone can see through his insincerity.
Bender: Well, if you want people to take you seriously, perhaps you should take them seriously first. Erosion of the sense of deference towards leaders?
That's too complicated a description for something so simple. Let me simplify that: people simply want Najib and his corrupt ways gone.
Telur dua: Many thanks for the entertainment, Najib. I was having a stressful day until I read this article and had a damn good laugh.
Anonymous_3e2c: RM30 million - the Selangor state government gives free higher education to two universities. RM20 million - the federal government plans to rear two pandas.
Hmm, I guess the priorities are obvious as to who is concerned about the rakyat and their well-being.
Chipmunk: How about naming them C4 & C5 or Sub & Tuya. We can also suggest Nambikei & Tembikai.
Mr & Mrs Panda, I would suggest you request for a condo with perks as we also have condos for cows in Malaysia.
Anonymous #865239317: Perhaps call them Najibuyez and Rosmaira.
