Seri Setia assemblyperson Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has dismissed rumours that he will replace incumbent MP Loh Gwo-Burne to contest in the Kelana Jaya parliamentary seat come the 13th general election (GE).

Sinar Harian today reported Nik Nazmi ( top photo ) saying that the rumours were “merely gossip” and the PKR top leadership has not decided on changing their candidate for the PKR-held seat.

He added that the candidate name list has been produced but he has yet to view it because it is in the possession of the top leadership.

Loh Gwo Burne press conference on lingam tape However, the PKR communications chief is confident that the party candidates will be of better quality this time as compared with the random “pick-and-field” method employed in the last GE.

Loh ( left ) was riding on the wave of being the man behind recording the incriminating video clip involving lawyer VK Lingam’s conversation about judicial appointments, when he was fielded as the PKR candidate to contest in the Petaling Jaya suburb seat in 2008.

Despite having wrested the seat from MCA with a majority of 3,136 votes, he is widely speculated to be a one-term MP.

Meanwhile, Indera Mahkota MP Atan Ismail also denied in the Malay daily that PKR has abandoned him as a candidate for the coming GE.

He felt that the rumours were “purposely invented” as the party has not come to any conclusion on the matter yet.
