Former Bank Negara Malaysia assistant governor Abdul Murad Khalid said today he was prepared to extend his cooperation to the authorities, if required, on the alleged management of accounts totalling RM3 billion he believes involved Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Murad in a statement to Bernama confirmed that he had made a statutory declaration on the accounts in 1999.

Replying to questions raised recently in the media, Murad said: "I have given the statements requested by the authorities.

"And, I am prepared to offer my cooperation to the authorities, if that is required of me."

In his disclosure 13 years ago, Murad reportedly claimed that Anwar controlled 20 master accounts involving assets, shares and money totalling more than RM3 billion in value.

Various quarters, particularly from among non-governmental organisations (NGOs), have reportedly urged Anwar to provide an explanation on Murad's claim.
