The government has dismissed claims that  Felda Global Ventures Holding's (FGV) public listing next week will be affected by a French firm's possible pullout.

Deputy minister in charge of Felda Ahmad Maslan told the Dewan Rakyat today although Louis Dreyfus Commodities (Asia) are likely to pursue a smaller stake, there are others who can take their place.

"It is not a problem for FGV's initial public offering (IPO) because we are oversubscribed 44 times more," said Ahmad.

He stressed that the French agricultural giant has yet to pullout from the IPO, the biggest ever in Malaysia, as discussions are ongoing.

"It is not true that they have withdrawn," he said. "There are many are investors who are keen. Nevertheless, talks with Louis Dreyfus is ongoing".

Ahmad was responding to Nurul Izzah Anwar (PKR-Lembah Pantai) who had cited The Edge Financial Daily's report.

The report had claimed that investors are keen to take up the 2.5 percent stake that was offered to Louis Dreyfus.

However, the report stated that the company was still in talks, but was unable to confirm its participation before the June 13 closing date for the institutional offering.
