Nibong Tebal MP Tan Tee Beng has lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching and her assistant over allegations that the latter took kickbacks of up to RM14,500.

"I wanted to follow up on what has been done (with the investigation) since it was first lodged in February (by another party).

NONE "At the same time, the MACC has taken my new submission of evidence," he told reporters outside the anti-graft body’s Putrajaya building yesterday.

Tan has accused Teo’s assistant, Chan Huan Guan, of taking as much RM14,500 from a landlord in kickbacks since 2009.

The Selangor state government allegedly paid RM1,000 to a landlord for the rental of Teo’s offices, with RM500 in kickbacks supposedly given to Chan from Jan 2009 to May 2011.

Chan has denied the claims and lodged a police report against Tan, warning that he would file a defamation suit against the former PKR parliamentarian.

Despite this, Tan went ahead with his MACC report, explaining that he had “hard evidence” and that Teo was free to bring him to court.

"She (Teo) may not be the wrongdoer but this happened within her office. She is responsible for it," the independent MP told reporters after lodging the report, outside the MACC’s Putrajaya building.

Legal suit

Meanwhile, Teo showed up with Chan in Parliament today insisting that there no offence was committed.

She waved copies of receipts stating the payment amount and dared Tan to reveal the evidence in his possession.

"He has made a serious accusation against my assistant. If there is evidence then show it.

"We have spoken to our lawyers and they are preparing a letter of demand for Tan to retract his accusations," said Teo, adding that they would otherwise initiate a legal suit.

"We will not let him go so easily," she added.
