Cat care centre owners fined RM6,000 for animal neglect
Two owners of a cat care centre were fined RM6,000 in default a month’s jail by the magistrate’s court in Petaling Jaya today for neglecting the wellbeing of 30 cats under their care, last year.
Two owners of a cat care centre were fined RM6,000 in default a month’s jail by the magistrate’s court in Petaling Jaya today for neglecting the wellbeing of 30 cats under their care, last year.
Magistrate K B Elena Hong Tze Lan passed the sentence on Shahrul Azuan Adanan and Yushairi Khairuddin, both aged 29, after they pleaded guilty to 30 counts of animal neglect.
They were alleged to have committed the offence at Petknode Online Pet Store, No F001B, Level 1, Plaza Seasons Square, Jalan PJU 10/3, Damansara Damai, Selangor, between Sept 3 and 4 last year.
They were charged under Section 44(1)(d) of the Animal Act 1953 which carries a maximum fine of RM200 or six months' jail, or both, if convicted.
Prosecution officer from the Veterinary Department Jamadi Badri prosecuted.
