About 200 Kolej Universiti Insaniah (Kuin) staff today staged a peaceful demonstration, urging its rector Prof Dr Jamil Osman to resign.

The demonstrators, wearing white attire as a mark of protest, named the protest ‘Himpunan Aman Bersih Kuin 2.0' and gathered in front of the rector’s office at 1.30pm.

Muhammad Azki Hafizi Ibrahim, who represented the Kuin staff, said the staff had lost confidence in the rector since he had failed to ensure the welfare of the workers and students.

NONE Muhammad Azki alleged that mismanagement was the cause of the predicament faced by the staff and students.

He added that the matter would be forwarded to Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak since Kuin is a state-owned university.

They claimed that although their employer had deducted their salaries for car, insurance, personal and housing loans, the money did not reach the respective creditors.

The staff claimed that some of the staff had been threatened with bankruptcy by banks while others had their cars repossessed while insurance coverage of some had been terminated due to non-payment.

Five Kuin staff members had also lodged a police report against its rector for alleged criminal breach of trust (CBT) on June 27 at the Kota Setar police station.
