Organisers of Perhimpunan Oren Selamatkan Felda (Orange Rally to Save Felda) opposing the listing of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) have sent a letter to the police informing them of the march to Istana Negara on July 14.

"In the letter we have requested for police cooperation to ensure the safety of the rally participants and with traffic flow," Gerakan Selamatkan Felda (GSF) coalition coordinator Mazlan Aliman said today.

NONE The organisers are prepared to work with the police in order to submit their memorandum to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, calling for his intervention to cancel the listing of FGV on Bursa Malaysia, Mazlan told Malaysiakini .

He said he led a seven-man delegation to submit the notice to Sentul district police chief Zakaria Pagan at noon today.

The rally participants will leave from the Federal Territory Mosque, off Jalan Duta, at 2pm and march to the new Istana Negara.

Mazlan, who is also Persatuan Anak Peneroka Felda (Anak) president, said about 20,000 people are expected to take part in the march.

The police were also furnished with details of the planning of the rally, he said, adding that the organisers were also trying to get an appointment with palace officials by July 11.

FGV's share price jumped 19 percent barely 20 minutes after opening on Bursa Malaysia on June 28.

The controversial listing is said to be the second largest initial public offering (IPO) in the world, after Facebook's, and is the largest IPO in Asia this year.

Felda operates approximately 350,000 hectares of oil palm plantations in Malaysia, producing 5.2 million tonnes of fresh fruit bunches last year.
