Manufacturing sales in April soared 24.8 percent year-on-year to RM32.7 billion, official data showed today.

However, sales were down 3.0 percent from March, the Statistics Department said in a statement.

In figures announced last month, manufacturing sales for March rose 16.2 percent year-on-year to RM33.70 billion and were also up 14.6 percent month-on-month.

The manufacturing sector had a total of 1.006 million employees at the end of April, up 2.2 percent from last year but down 0.3 percent from March, it said.

In the January to April period, cumulative manufacturing sales rose 16.2 percent year-on-year to RM125.4 billion. - AFP
