Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) has yet to be notified of the resignation of Wilfred Bumburing as the chairperson of Tuaran BN, Sabah BN chairperson Musa Aman said today.

Bumburing, deputy president of the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko), yesterday announced that he was stepping down as Tuaran BN chairperson and would make an important announcement with regard to the future direction of his political struggle in Dalit, Tuaran, on Sunday.

Musa said he had not received any letter of resignation from Bumburing, probably because he (Musa) had been in Kuala Lumpur.

Nevertheless, he requested the BN election machinery to continue to work together and be prepared to the face the next general election and ensure a BN victory.

“Most importantly, we must strive to help the people, particularly those in the rural areas, and bring greater development to all corners of the state,” he said, and called on all BN component parties to forge cooperation and implement programmes for the benefit of the people.

Musa was distributing ‘Zam-Zam’ water, dates and robes donated by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, to mosques and imams in conjunction with the Ramadan fasting month.

Meanwhile, Tuaran Umno Division chief Hajiji Noor described Bumburing’s resignation as a personal matter and said Tuaran Umno would continue to work hard to retain the Tuaran seat in the next general election. Bumburing is the Tuaran MP.

“I have yet to meet him. Nevertheless, it is his personal decision and we have to respect it. We will wait for further developments. I wish to state that we will strengthen Tuaran BN,” he said.
