Police detained a man who tried to drive off a car at a car washing centre in Bandar Seremban Selatan yesterday.

State CID chief ACP Hamdan Majid said in the 3.58pm incident, a car owner sent his car to the car wash and left the car key inside the car.     

“Another car came along and a man came out and tried to drive the car waiting to be washed.

“The owner managed to enter the car by the left-side door and managed to nab the man with the help of members of the public and police,” he told reporters in Seremban today.

He said investigation found that the Myvi left by the 23-year-old suspect from Malacca was reported stolen in Klang, Selangor.  

A remand order for the man has been obtained to assist in further investigations.

Meanwhile, a 23-year-old police inspector who caused injury to two hotel workers at Seremban 2 and destroyed two cars would be charged in court on July 30.  

He said the police officer, who is attached to the Seremban Police Headquarters, had been suspended from duty.
