Menteri Besar Kelantan Nik Aziz Nik Mat said he will be seeking an audience with the sultan of Kelantan to get the sultan’s consent on the state government’s choice to represent Kelantan in the

Special Committee on Petroleum Revenue which was announced by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak today.

He said the Kelantan government had yet to make a decision as to who would be picked for the committee.

“I myself will be seeking an audience with the sultan of Kelantan to get his consent on our candidate and only after will we announce the name,” he told reporters after attending a ceremony to launch a trust fund for the Kota Baru-Kuala Krai Highway in Shah Alam last tonight.

On the committee, Nik Aziz said it was long overdue.

Najib yesterday announced the setting up of the committee to study in a fair and transparent manner on the issue of cash payment from petroleum revenue to the states in the east coast of peninsular Malaysia.

He said the special committee would be chaired by former chief justice Abdul Hamid Mohamad, and members of the committee would comprise legal experts from within and outside the country, and representatives from the Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu state governments consented to by the sultan of the respective states.
