Felda's second generation settlers are expected to receive their 'windfall' after the Aidilfitri celebration, according to Felda Group chairman Isa Samad.

However, Isa said, the actual date would be decided by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

"We have no problem (giving the windfall). The prime minister will decide when, and we will pay because the money is already there.

"At the moment, we (Felda) are arranging the giving of the second phase of windfall to settlers' wives. More that 50 per cent of the distribution, which started in the first week of Ramadan, has been completed for those who qualify."

Isa said this at a press conference before a function to fete orphans and recipients of Ramadan contributions organised by Felda Foundation and Felda Group of Companies at Dewan Perdana Felda in Kuala Lumpur today.

Also present was Felda Global Ventures chief executive officer Sabri Ahmad.

On the function, Isa said it was in line with the Kasih Felda social responsibility programme launched by the prime minister, who asked the programme be widened so that more people could benefit from Felda, particularly from Felda Foundation.

A total 207 orphans from eight organisations and orphanages in Negeri Sembilan and Malacca received the contributions of clothes and money.

Other than that, 320 poor, senior citizens and disabled and 56 patients of the Felda Haemodialysis Centre received Ramadan contributions in the form of hampers and cash.
