The dissemination of information among users of Twitter websites on roadblocks is not the main factor in the failure of police operations.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Ku Chin Wah said although information on roadblocks were leaked out by the users of websites, it was not something to be worried about.

"I do not look at the issue as negative because in Australia, information on roadblocks is announced repeatedly through radio including the locations of the roadblocks," he told Bernama today.

He said the dissemination of information could not only help the public to know the location of the roadblocks but also proved police presence when carrying out their duty.

Ku said roadblocks were held not to nab individuals but to educate and prevent them from committing traffic offences.

Nevertheless, he conceded that the dissemination of information could also be bad as it could affect detection of criminals through roadblocks and more traffic offenders could escape.
