Coalition of Muslim organisations Pembela lodged a police report today against two leaders from DAP and MCA on their alleged statements offensive to Islam as the country's official religion as per Article 3(1) of the federal constitution.

NONE In the police report, Pembela chairman Aminuddin Yahya ( right in photo ) said Pembela was lodging the report after reading two statements from DAP national chairperson Karpal Singh, reported by The Malaysian Insider and The Star Online , that he was fighting for the concept of a secular state.

The statements were published under the titles Hudud can't be implemented in secular Malaysia and PAS defying constitution by declaring Islamic state .

In the same report, Aminuddin said MCA chairperson Donald Lim Siang Chai was reported by Malaysiakini as saying that he would prevent Malaysia from becoming an Islamic country.

This article , published on Aug 18, is titled ‘ S'gor MCA: Choose us, we'll prevent Islamic state' .

Lim was reported as saying that if Selangor and other states were under BN’s rule, Malaysia will not become an Islamic country.

"I find that the contents in all three articles were intended to instigate hatred and create anxiety among the public regarding Islam's position as stated in Article 3(1) of the federal constitution," Aminuddin says in the police report.

In the report, he said all three articles are "malicious and have confused the public".

With regard to that, he said that the report was for the police to investigate the two leaders’ statements, based on the Sedition Act or other suitable laws for the sake of public peace.

The report was filed at the Dang Wangi police station at 2.05pm by Aminuddin, who brought some 20 Pembela members along in support.
