PAS deputy mursyidul am (spiritual leader) Haron Din has reportedly appeared to be defending the party’s former deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa over the latter’s call for the party to review its ties with Pakatan Rakyat.
According to Umno-owned Malay daily
Utusan Malaysia
, Haron (

) told the daily that PAS, as a democratic party, should not take what Nasharudin had said as being offensive.
“Nasharudin’s statement urging the party to review its relationship with Pakatan, that has trigged the current polemic, is not an offence.
“I see it as fair, because of late, DAP chairperson Karpal Singh has raised harsh objections against hudud,” the daily quoted him as saying.
In the front page report titled ‘Haron Din defends Nasha’, the leader was also reported urging Nasharudin to stay connected with PAS even though he had lost in the party’s elections last year, because the Bachok MP is still a party member.
According to the report, Haron added that Nasharudin is still a member of PAS’ syura council and has been contributing to the party’s struggles.
