FREE YOURSAY 'What is the board of directors of Utusan going to do? They can't just allow the irresponsible employees to keep blowing away the shareholders' money.'

WWW1: Utusan told to pay Nizar damages

your say Anonymous #76681287: Something is wrong here. As a BN supporter for over 50 years, I see no logic in the spinning of lies by Utusan Malaysia .

The neutral readers have already abandoned Utusan leaving only the hardcore supporters amongst its readership. Then why spin lies? The remaining readership are BN supporters. You need not spin and convince them anymore.

On the other hand, by continuous and continual spinning, Utusan is giving fodder to the opposition. Or is it a simple case of ‘siok sendiri' and pleasing the boss.

If I were the boss, I would send Utusan to detention class to do a lot of remedial work on writing partisan news with finesse.

Rubystar_4037: Utusan is the biggest Malay newspaper and they did not sent a legal representative for such a defamation case; it makes one wonder what has become of their corporate responsibility to the masses.

And of course, Umno and the BN cronies are still using Utusan as their henchman. This country has been mismanaged for so long that there is no more justice.

Lin Wenquan: It appears that Utusan has deep pockets to pay for damages for defamation and libel ever so often which would have incapacitated many other papers, given the declining circulation and by extension, lower advertising income.

Thus it begs the question, who is its fairy godmother?

Another phenomenon is that given its losing streak record in court cases against it (which proves that it is irresponsible and sometimes outright incendiary) it has been immune from any reprobation from its Umno masters.

No magnanimity ought to be shown to their rodent reporters in the court of law when they offer their apologies and claims of the 'mistake in understanding' the other party's nuance of language. These are ‘bullshit' excuses to avoid the mouse trap from decapitating them.

Argonist: And in the case against TV3, please don't give any quarter, former Perak MB Nizar Jamaluddin.

The reason is because TV3's lies are constantly viewed by the poor who cannot afford the equally partisan Astro's repeat media, and more damage has been done by the government-controlled media than anything else in Malaysia.

Don't Play-Play: It is too early for Nizar and his supporters to rejoice the court ruling. Technically, Utusan is already found guilty but it can apply to set aside the decision as it was made in its absence.

Let's wait for further development of this case. And for the others, let them have their excitement which I strongly believed will be short-lived.

Whatever pittance Nizar will get from Utusan will not compensate the humiliation he faced after being rebuked by the Johor sultan over the WWW1 car number plate issue.

Freemsia: Don't Play-Play, it is pretty obvious that Utusan has implied that Nizar was a traitor to the sultans, that he was an anti-sultan politician and one that was trying to instigate the rakyat to hate the Johor sultan. And you can actually support Utusan on this?

BTN: For the monarchy to be respected by the rakyat, its best that they listen to the rakyat and not be influenced by any political party. It takes great courage for someone to apologise if they have erred.

Cannon: Whatever pittance Utusan makes from selling its trash newspaper, it gives away its money to the others in court damages and depends on political patronage for its survival. This is Umno's business transformation model.

Ipohcrite: The irresponsibility of Utusan in its slanted reporting in favour of BN and falsified reports against the oppositionm must not be left unpunished. Legal suits are the way to go.

As a listed entity, each material litigation case must be taken into account and reported to Bursa Malaysia and the public.

Eventually, and not too long from now, Utusan shall run itself to the ground in financial ruin, hoisted by its own petard. Justice shall prevail.

Dr Chin Tu Lan: Never have I seen a newspaper being sued for defamation and lost so many time in court. The worse is the government is not even considering revoking its publishing licence.

This is how Malaysia is being govern at the present moment. As a Malaysian, I'm really ashamed.

Wira: The recalcitrant paper will just continue to lie and lie. After all, it primary existence is not for reporting news, but to create news and deceits to ensure the survival of Umno.

Corruption money reaped in by the ruling party leaders and their cohorts/cronies far exceed any profit that the paper may hope to make.

Anonymous #40538199: What is the board of directors of Utusan going to do now? They can't just allow the irresponsible employees to keep blowing away the shareholders' money.

Democrat: It looks like Utusan will not be able to buy indemnity insurance ever again. No one will accept unless they pay a huge premium. The Almighty is teaching them a lesson, painful and expensive one too.

Artchan: But some people think they are bigger than God, and they forget they are here by the grace of God. Indeed, their conduct is unbecoming of the religion they profess.
