The haze in several places in the country was reported to be at the moderate level today.

The Air Pollutant Index (API) for Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, was 93, the highest reading in the moderate stage, as at 11 am, according to the statistics at the website of the Department of Environment (DOE).

In 40 other locations, including Perlis, Kedah and Penang, the reading was below 80. The reading in Kuala Lumpur was 76.

Meanwhile, a DOE spokesman said the condition of the haze would be dependent on the weather.

"If the dry weather prolongs, as reported by the Meteorological Department, the haze can also prolong," he said.
