Report on domestic abuse claim submitted to DPP

The investigation papers on a domestic violence claim by a 19-year-old woman has been submitted to the deputy public prosecutor for further action.

This was disclosed by state criminal investigation department chief Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim ( left ) via SMS today.

The woman, Amanda Fong Kim Yen was also at the Ipoh Timur MCA office around 2pm today, accompanied by her mother Lily Yeoh, 49, to relate her alleged ordeal.

She told reporters that the incident arose from a misunderstanding between her and her husband on Aug 23, over a decision to sell branded perfume in their shop.

She said she was against the idea and they got into an argument which allegedly turned violent when she stopped and decided to go home.

"I gave the CCTV footage to the police on Aug 29 at 7.40pm. I want the police to investigate as soon as possible and take action against him, because no woman should be treated like this," she said.

She said she also downloaded the footage on her Facebook on Aug 30.

Amanda claimed her husband knew that she was already two-months' pregnant and that she was aware even before they got married on Jan 17 this year, that he was short-tempered and aggressive.

"Before our wedding he also acted violently during misunderstandings (between us), but not to this extent. He slapped and grabbed me and I forgave him. But he never changed," she lamented.

She said her father lodged a police report after the incident while she made another report on Sept 3.

Amanda's lawyer G Amajit Singh Gill described her act as courageous.
