Former Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has advised Umno members to discard the attitude of being easily disgruntled and turning traitorous, if they wished for the party to win big in the upcoming 13th general election.
He said such negativity would not only damage Umno but could undermine the Barisan Nasional (BN) which the opposition would readily capitalise.
"That is not what the party's spirit or struggle is about; we must prioritise the party's interest for the sake of religion, race and country," he said when Kepala Batas Umno's Youth delegates conference today.
Abdullah, who is also Kepala Batas MP, stressed that good rapport between Umno members and leaders was a crucial party asset that must be maintained for Umno to be able to continue in its struggle.
Present at the function was the division's Youth chief Reezal Merican Naina Merican, who is also Umno Youth information chief.
