Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said today the Universiti Selangor (Unisel) audited financial report which purportedly showed an after-tax loss of RM54.8 million, has yet to be finalised.

      

He said they needed time to present the state-owned University's financial report as it had to be approved at the Annual General Meeting and undergo an independent audit.

"The audit report takes time as the state government is in the process of taking over the University's debts. The report has to be re-audited because Unisel owes the bank," he told reporters after the Selangor state departments' monthly gathering at the State Secretariat building at Shah Alam.

He was commenting on Selangor Umno Liaison Chairman Noh Omar's claim yesterday that Unisel's audited financial reports showed after-tax losses of up to RM54.8 million, for the past three years under Parti Keadilan Rakyat.

According to Noh, based on a copy of the Unisel Audited Report for 2009-2010, the University showed after-tax losses of RM1.63 million for 2008, RM13.55 million in 2009 and RM39.68 million in 2010.

Abdul Khalid neither denied nor acknowledged the said report.

He said Noh could publish the audited report to the public and the state government would explain the issue through existing channels.
