The Royal Malaysian Air Force's (RMAF) two General Electric J85-21A turbojet engines stolen five years ago have been returned to Malaysia.

According to The New Straits Times , Uruguay shipped back the engines recently.

The daily quoted attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail as saying that the engines were being kept as evidence for the trial of two men charged with their theft.

The report said the engines are presently being stored at the RMAF's Subang station.

They were reported stolen from two RMAF facilities on Dec 20, 2007 and Jan 1, 2008.

RMAF sergeant N Tharmendran ( above ) and company director Rajandran Prasad Kusy were subsequentl charged with stealing the engines.
