The decision to hold Selangor's state election separately from the national polls is not yet final, the Taman Medan assemblyperson Haniza Talha reportedly said.

She was quoted saying that Pakatan Rakyat presidential council's announcement on Sept 12 was merely to endorse ( merestui ) the state government's decision to hold separate polls if the Election Commission (EC) fails to take action against dubious voters.

"The state government will only announce its final decision whether or not it would hold its election simultaneously with the 13th general election depending on the EC taking immediate action. That is the state government's prerogative," Haniza ( right )  was quoted in the Malay-language daily Sinar Harian today.

During the announcement by the presidential council, PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim also said that the council may also consider Penang's application to hold separate elections.

"We agree with (Selangor) Menteri Besar (Abdul) Khalid Ibrahim's views on not holding the state election along with the national elections as the EC has not cleaned up the electoral roll," he had said.

In today's paper, Haniza was also quoted as saying that about 1,000 dubious voters have been identified through the state's Selangorku Bersih voter verification campaign.

"We will take the issue of dubious voters to the court soon to challenge the EC, which claims to be transparent and that the electoral roll is clean," she reportedly said.
