In despair, 1M'sia PM plays the race card
YOURSAY 'So now this 1Malaysia PM decides to pledge that the elections are to inure to the benefit of the Malays?'
GE13 determines survival of Malays, says Najib
Anonymous_3e86:
There he goes again - racial politics. But it's more like the survival of BN and Umno that PM Najib Razak is more interested in.
The Malay race will continue to survive in this country, no doubt about that. If this country has more Chinese than Malays, he will most likely say "the survival of the Chinese" instead.
Does he really care for the survival of any race as long as BN remains in power?
Slumdog: Najib Razak, aren't you the PM for all Malaysians regardless of race, religion or gender. Why do you persist and keep harping on the survival of the Malays. Are they endangered?
You said Umno, as the backbone of BN, would continue the struggle for the Malays and Islam. What has happened to your 1Malaysia concept? Oh I forgot, you were speaking at the Pekan Umno division delegates meeting.
Telestai!: What has Umno done to improve the future of the Malays? Umno wanted NEP (New Economic Policy) and so we gave them NEP.
But after 41 years of affirmative policies, the Malays are still playing catch up. In fact, the non-Malays have gone ahead in many areas because the NEP raised the bar which forced them to strive harder.
It is reasonable to say that Umno bastardised NEP for the benefit of its cronies and this is why the Malays masses continue to struggle to this day. How can Umno guarantee a future for the Malays when it has proven itself to be a failure?
The truth of the matter is that the Malays do not need an affirmative policy like NEP. Like their fellow Malaysians, the Malays are capable of competing on an even keel with the others.
All they need is training and moral support. To excel, one must be prepared to work hard. There are no short cuts or instant success formula.
Kingfisher: After 50 years of BN's almost monopolitic control of the reigns of power, to imply that any other democratically-elected administration will undermine the positions of the Malays is preposterous.
Even in desperation, one should hesitate to call upon God for political expediency. Never call God's name when in wane.
LittleGiant: Yes, Najib, GE13 will surely determine the survival of Malays. Why should the Malays continue to support Umno-BN?
The Malays today are politically more knowledgeable and matured - they understand well that it is Umno that has been exploiting them for more than 50 years through sheer cronyism and nepotism.
It is not only the Malays but also the non-Malays who will decide at GE13 whether they should allow Umno-BN to continue to determine their survival.
Non-Malay voters will also decide the fate of their BN leaders who were all without ‘backbone' and remain subservient to their Umno masters over the past five decades.
Doc: "In Barisan Nasional, Umno is the backbone," said Najib.
I think it is safe to say in the light of recent events, namely Umno's internal sabotage problem, bickering between the PM and DPM, Sabah Umno politicians crossing over to PKR, Umno marred by scandals after scandals and many more; the BN backbone seems to be rather osteoporotic.
Cocomomo: It's time for Malaysians to ignore and cast aside narrow race and religion-minded leaders and elect Malaysian leaders who respect and practice universal values where all human beings, irrespective of their ethnic origins or religious beliefs, are treated fairly.
Emphasis should be given to upgrade our education level and the quality of life of the weak and downtrodden.
Fairnessforall: Umno has ruled for 55 years and still the Malays are backward and poor, so what is Najib talking about?
The only Malays who became rich beyond their wildest dream are the Umno Malays, and that is the only reason they want to stay in power so they can steal more of the country's wealth.
Najib, your days are over, stop playing racial politics. The Malays are not stupid any more.
Imraz Ikhbal: So now this 1Malaysia PM decides to pledge that the elections are to inure to the benefit of the Malays?
Blinded by the greed for Malay votes, he seems oblivious that the non-Malays are likewise ever observing him under a microscope, and he fails miserably in being consistent about his 1Malaysia slogan.
With certainty, the non-Malays aren't stupid to be fooled by Najib, and neither is this Malay to be sucked in into his conniving antics.
This GE13 is indeed not an ordinary one. It will determine the fate of Najib, his ministers and the lives of their entire family. More importantly, it will determine the lives of this beloved nation's future generations.
Anonymous_rb345: Playing racial cards again? GE13 will determine the survival of Malaysians as a whole in view of the current global economic crisis and Malaysia's declining competitiveness.
In addition, our national debt level is increasing by the day with rampant corruption and useless mega projects undertaken by the BN government. Vote BN out to save Malaysia.
Not Confused: The only card that this lame duck PM can produce is the race card. Every word he says is tinged with race. His tissue-thin 1Malaysia exhortation is just so much hot air when all he can talk about is the Malay race.
What about the rest of the population? He cares not a jot for any of us.
Fair Play: I suppose the PM meant the survival of the Umno Malay. Life for the ordinary Malay and the rakyat will go on, regardless of the outcome of GE13.
