Umno supreme council member Hamzah Zainuddin said there are no more warlords in the party since Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak took leadership.

The days of warlords are now merely history for Umno, Hamzah was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia today.

This, he said, was because Najib was wise in the selection of election candidates and did not sideline the views and sentiments of local leaders.

"The warlords practised a culture of thuggery, and this was what led the people to despise us and refuse to support us.

"But today, it is different, warlords no longer exist. No division leader is like that because everybody is now going to the ground and working together.

"They now know that they are not only Umno leaders but leaders for the people," Hamzah was quoted as saying at a press conference after officially opening the Gombak division Umno delegates assembly yesterday.
