The crime index in Sabah has recorded a drop of 11.48 percent in the first eight months of the year, said police.

State police commissioner Hamza Taib said the improvement meant police were on course to meet the 15 percent key performance index (KPI) set by the top leadership.

“We have been meeting the KPI for the last two consecutive years and we look set to meet the KPI for the third year running,” he told reporters after attending a meeting with licenced firearm owners in Sandakan today.

He said the decline in crime rate was the result of cooperation of district police chiefs, policemen and the people in the state.

“Police will continue to work towards ensuring safety of residents in the state,” he said.
