Malaysia aims to be the supplier of human capital in Islamic finance and business, says Higher Education Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

To help achieve this goal, he said, the curriculum and training task force on Islamic finance education of higher learning led by the International Islamic University Malaysia had been formed.

The initiative under the Islamic finance education cluster will specifically address the gaps in Islamic Finance curriculum and talent development in order to meet the high demand of the thriving Islamic finance industry.

"I'm optimistic that with the formation of this task force, the acute shortage of trained human capital needed locally as well as globally can be systematically attended to," he said when launching the initiative in Kuala Lumpur today.

Mohamed Khaled noted that while there was a lot of excitement in the development of the Islamic finance curriculum, it was important to adopt appropriate methods permissible by syariah.

"I urge the curriculum task force to adress the issues accordingly. Quality curriculum is what we strive for, and this must be attained with no compromise," he said.
