The second Sultan Yahya Petra bridge built at a cost of RM170 million is expected to be opened for traffic before Chinese New Year.

Kelantan Federal Development Department director Makhtar Mustafa said for a start though, only one lane of the 2km-long bridge would be opened for traffic.

“The bridge will be fully opened by July next year,” he told reporters after a Kelantan Federal Development Department working committee meeting in Kota Baru today.

Makhtar said the actual cost of the bridge that was build across the Sungai Kelantan was RM150 million and work had started in June 2007.

He added that the completion date of the bridge was delayed four times due to technical reasons.
