Najib's 1Malaysia: 'The truth is finally out'

your say Not Confused: This piece has articulated what I and I believe most right-thinking Malaysians (including Sarawakians and Sabahans) have known for a very long time.

No longer should any Malaysian consider supporting or pandering to such derelict ideas as those espoused by the leaders of Umno and the other subservient parties in the BN coalition. The entire BN edifice is crumbling before our eyes, and it's not a moment too soon.

Abasir: Najib Abdul Razak's 1Malaysia is as real as the doctored photographs in the New Straits Times ( NST ) and the ‘statistricks' coming out of that spin machine, Pemandu.

There is absolutely nothing real about this man, except perhaps his real love for opulence, high living and all the trimmings of power.

Starr: Yes, Najib's speech in Pekan, Pahang not only testifies his 'double-speak' but also, by using racial undertone in his speech, depicts the bankruptcy of Umno's politics.

Najib has proven he's no 'Malaysian First, Malay Second'. Najib and Umno are for 'by the Malays, of the Malays and for the Malays'. Their primary motivation is purely and exclusively for the Malays, not Malaysians.

But they must be told in no uncertain terms that Malaysia does not exist for the Malays alone. Merdeka wasn't negotiated and secured by the Malays, of the Malays and for the Malays only. Najib can't talk about unity on the one hand and Malay racism on the other.

Odin: The reason that Najib is reaching out to the Malays is simple - he is drowning. Politically speaking, that is.

While he is facing an opposition that is gathering momentum as well as mass, he is also having to contend with rebellion against him and his faction within Umno Baru.

Surely he also must know that Sabahans have seen through his deceit; the RCI (royal commission of inquiry) supposed to look into Project IC/M, for example, has stalled.

In Sarawak, things aren't too bright for the BN, either. And like a drowning man, he's desperately clawing at anything to save his life.

Unfortunately for him, many of the Malays whom he is hoping to rescue him are informed, and thus they will not stretch out their hand to pull him to safety.

As for Sarawak CM Abdul Taib Mahmud, the less said the better. He is a devil consumed with untold greed, and is aided by a coterie of smaller devils who have sold their souls to him.

GXFC: It is not true to say that a nation or a people is not united just because there are many parties competing in a democracy.

I am a Malay and I believe the Malays will have a better future if they are united under the umbrella of Pakatan Rakyat (PAS, PKR and DAP), rather than under BN (Umno, MCA and MIC).

However, if it is true that the Malays are fighting for their survival today, as according to Najib, whose fault is it? Is it PAS' or PKR's fault? It is Umno which has ruled this country for the last 55 years. They are the ones who must be blamed for the desperate situation of the Malays.

In fact, the Malays are fortunate that we have PAS and PKR to rescue us. To ensure the survival of the Malays, they must vote Pakatan. The devil they know has brought them ruin, so they should go for the angels, even if they don't know them - yet.

Headhunter: We all knew he was a closet racist by his deafening silence when racist organisations like Perkasa and their ilk were creating havoc in the streets and making racist statements. Now that he confirms it, are we really surprised?

RR: In a multi-racial country, an enlightened political leader should ask the different races to be united as a nation and elect the party that brings unity of all races and faiths and that brings progress to all.

Calling for unity of a particular race reflects a calling to fight the other races. This is downright evil politics and is very dangerous for nation building.

The component parties in BN should walk out of the coalition for this reason alone. Would Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim make the same statement, i.e. unity of Malays in Pakatan Rakyat or PKR?

Telestai!: I welcome the idea having a campaign to unite Malaysians but it needs to be explained so that we all know the role we play.

Despite the 1Malaysia campaign, Najib contradicts himself by either being complicit to the race-based politics played by Perkasa and Perkida or being outright racist with his recent statement on the survival of the Malays.

No wonder the campaign did not gain any form of traction although million of ringgit poured into the public relations efforts.

LittleGiant: It must be remembered that the '1Malaysia' concept is just a propaganda material for BN government minus Umno, i.e. Umno leaders never wanted and never accepted this '1Malaysia' thing.

Umno cannot be sincere about '1Malaysia' as Umno then has to believe in and practice ‘equality', which will result in Umno giving up its domineering presence and power in the BN coalition.

Equality means to cast away politics based on race and religion. Is it possible for Umno leaders to go and serve wholeheartedly beyond race and religion? Can PM Najib allow Umno to lose its dominance and power? Surely not.

As far as Umno is concerned, '1Malaysia' is just a catchy and fancy slogan that the party is not really serious about. PM Najib is well aware of that.

His statement that GE13 will determine the survival of Malays probably and quite aptly fits into his own belief about '1Malaysia' - that '1Malaysia' is not for Umno and it does not apply to the Malays.

Clever Voter: Voters are either gullible, blind or stupid to vote for a government that constantly tell lies, rob the public of its wealth, and favour a few to enrich themselves.

This hopefully be the last because the public deserves better, the country needs honest leaders, and a government that treats its citizens with more respect and care.

Ghostwhowalks: A Sabahan once said - whenever I go to Kuala Lumpur and see the Petronas Twin Towers, it reminds me of Sabah and Sarawak as it was built with our oil and gas monies.

So we should rename it ‘Sabah and Sarawak Towers',to remind us how our wealth had been siphoned and continues to be siphoned to this day.

May I call on all righteous politicians from both sides of the divide to publicise these iconic towers as ‘Sabah and Sarawak Towers' from now on to remind our brothers and sisters about the continue suffering of poverty endured by the people of these two states.
