Human rights group Suaram and news portal Malaysiakini are Jewish “stooges” who are trying to prevent Malaysia from owning Scorpene submarines, said a former aide of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.

In a report in Umno-owned Malay daily Utusan Malaysia ’s weekend edition Mingguan Malaysia today, Anuar harped on the Jewish connection saying that Jews were using Suaram to try to deny Malaysia the French-made submarines.

To back his claim, he dredged up another Jewish figure, Carl Gershman, whom he said was behind another of Suaram’s funders, the National Endowment for Democracy.

“For certain Suaram members have been paid handsomely to act as stooges for the Jews and the filth of society ( najis masyarakat ),” he was reported as saying.

Anuar also slammed a “Jewish submarine builder from the West” who was “immoral” and “attacking” the French company that built Malaysia’s Scorpene submarines, DCNS.

He said the said arms company was “jealous” because Malaysia had not purchased their submarines from a Jewish company.

“We know in America the arms industry is completely linked to the Jews,” he said.

“They (the Jews) also finance Suaram and the pro-opposition news portal Malaysiakini with the same aim, so that the country cannot own submarines from France out of fear of political attacks and so on,” said Anuar.

pkr johor skudai dinner 150912 anwar The Mingguan report also quoted Anwar ( right ) saying that the French court in March received a case filed by Suaram, that alleges that the submarine maker DCNS had paid millions of ringgit in bribes to one of the highest officials in Malaysia who is involved in the purchase.

Over the past weeks Suaram has been under attack from government agencies and pro-government groups that appear to be linked to the NGO’s case in France against DCNS for corruption in the Scorpene deal with Malaysia.

In particular, the French inquiry has revealed several troubling details linked to Malaysian top officials.

Suaram has written a memorandum to the Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) over what it calls a concerted effort to harass the NGO.
