The Wanita Gerakan delegates conference 2012 held today passed six resolutions including a request to the government for a policy compelling housing developers and relevant parties to build affordable homes for the people.

tan lian hoe gerakan wanita chief agm 2011 2 Its chief, Tan Lian Hoe, who is also domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism deputy minister, said the resolutions were approved unanimously by 342 delegates who were also seeking for the attorney-general to review court decisions of statutory to protect women and prevent legal precedents.   

"We are also proposing that the government sets a policy which provides for all schools, be they national, religious, or national-type Chinese and Tamil, to receive equal amount of annual allocation," she told Bernama after the conference ended.

She said the wing would also request the Education Ministry to monitor all private schools and international schools to ensure they abided conditions for the intake of students and limiting the number of overseas students.

Meanwhile, the Gerakan Youth annual delegates conference which was attended by 405 delegates passed seven resolutions, including a request to the government to standardise all schools as fully-aided government schools and a proposal that a National-type School Progress Structure Management Consultative Council be set up.

The movement has also urged the BN Youth to lead the political transformation plan through enhancing the values of power-sharing and compromise.
