ROS on mission to do Umno's bidding
VOXPOP 'Are all government agencies Umno agencies? It is obvious that they are willing to go all out to please their political masters.'
ROS ropes in police to haul up Suaram
Ferdtan:
From the relentless and ridiculous show of power, the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM), which should be the controlling agency over a company, has 'allowed' the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to take the lead in the investigation of human rights group Suaram.
To rope in the ROS and the police into the team means that they have found it hard to find one damning evidence to put the Suaram away.
So the bullying starts, to prolong the agony of the NGO in question, until they find something, even technical faults, to charge them. The stake must be big (the Scorpene's corruption inquiry) that the BN government has to go through such an obviously embarrassing persecution of the popular NGO.
They are bound to lose some educated middle-ground support in votes. However, do they care? Probably not, as we see the blatant disregard of natural justice in applying the law. BN may be like the movie character, Judge Dredd: police, judge, jury and executioner.
Headhunter: The ROS is acting as an Umno goon. There's no other way to describe them. They can make all the pathetic excuses they want, but nobody is convinced. Shame on them.
Gotcha: Three car loads of ROS officials just to serve a summon. This a pure waste of the rakyat's money.
Maybe the ROS wanted to show off its strength. I know there are many other files pending at ROS where no action has been taken for months and years. Why is this Suaram case so important?
Anonyxyz: The intention of the BN government is very clear cut - to harass Suaram and scare them into stopping the Scorpene inquiry in France in order to protect Umno and its leaders.
They want to keep Suaram busy with court proceedings and police investigations so they won't have time to do anything else, just like what they did with the Anwar Ibrahim sodomy cases.
Green Mutant: Are all government agencies Umno agencies? It is obvious that they are willing to go all out to please their political masters. Their salaries come from the rakyat and I want my money back; can I?
Mushiro: This gives me a feeling like we are living in an autocratic regime like that of Idi Amin's where the 'ruling regime' can do anything and get away with it, and where the people can be picked on and prosecuted at the whims and fancies of the 'despotic boss'. Soon we will even denigrate to idolise and pray to the leader.
Jk7462000: Let them continue with the political persecution. It will be their undoing. Don't you just love BN's blundering agencies and coppers?
Anonymous1234@: The BN government has lost all my respect. I will not vote for BN, even if its candidate is a good one.
Anonymous_40dd: They are trying to snatch away the whistle from the whistleblower. The next step will be freezing the bank account of Suaram to prevent further exposure of corruption.
Budget bashing dessert served at Pakatan dinner
Tell the Truth: What we have is a coward for a PM who only dares to attack when Pakatan Rakyat has no chance to defend itself.
Let's see whether the mainstream media will print Anwar's rebuttal to the budget speech on Monday and whether Najib will come to Parliament to hear the speech.
Haveagreatday: PM Najib Razak has shown he's no leader so Anwar can expect him to be absent on Monday.
Yes, it is indeed a blow below the belt for Penang and Selangor in which the PM claimed during his budget speech that they are weak economically.
My real concern is whether the man in the street will be side-tracked from the agenda of change by the slew of goodies handed out by the PM.
Taikohtai: Najib is actually following through US presidential hopeful Mitt Romney's infamous speech that "47 percent of Americans are too dependent on government" making that a reality for Malaysia under BN rule.
Najib's BN cronies cannot survive a day without handouts, and Tricubes is the latest example of how millions are given to operate what is a free service to the rest of the world.
Clever Voter: The less talk the better; opposition parties must put their act together, and be more strategic and tactical in handling their communications with voters.
Increasingly, voters are being bought over by sweeteners and handouts - gullible they can be, but they can be persuaded if there are convincing propositions that their lives can be better with Pakatan. Try that for a change.
Mushiro: If Najib does not turn up in Parliament to hear the opposition leader's views on the budget on Monday, if Najib does not take up the offer to debate Anwar on the budget, and if Najib continues using the media to run away from personal head-on discussions, then Najib might as well just wear a skirt to confirm what he is made off.
