Ksn: In the first place, the Bersih rally is not illegal. How did you jump to that conclusion, principal?

The right to assemble and protest peacefully about matters that the rakyat are not happy with is a fundamental right according to our constitution, get that through your thick skull.

Therefore, your answer that it is ‘not appropriate' is the wrong answer to start with. With teachers like you, how do you expect our children to grow up as responsible citizens?

Stern disciplinary action should be taken against Wan Hajasham.

You are the most despicable teacher, trying to brainwash the young, innocent and unknowing children. You are no better than those in the communist countries whereby they started their propagandistic brainwashing activities on their young.

Taikohtai: I think the question is fair, but not the answer. There is no such thing as a right or wrong answer to such open questions.

I will give high marks to students who can argue about the issues, either in the affirmative or against. Only then can the students grow in maturity politically, not just barking up the wrong tree.

Please give both sides of the story for the children to judge whether the rally is ‘wajar' (appropriate) or otherwise. Your nobility may be coloured. School children should by taught to use their brains and not to be brainwashed.

It would have been most appropriate to teach school children world history rather than just history on the good deeds of Malaysian ministers and the BN government.

Ask most students how France become a republic or how the American nation come into existence and I bet very few of the 5th or 6th formers or undergraduates can give you the answer. It's a great pity our children today know so little of world history.

Tailek: If the school principal is fair, unbiased and apolitical as claimed, then she should also have included a picture of the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) assaulting the protesters at the Bersih rally and ask if this is "wajar atau tidak wajar". Please do not treat us like morons.

RR: Students must be taught to uphold truth, righteousness, integrity, peace and love. If the government of the day does not honour any of these human values, then an assembly of protest is legal.

This is what we see in Arab countries now where the people have been subjugated for centuries. The people now want their countries to not sink further into corruption and avarice, thereby depriving the majority of a decent living.

The teachers should teach good values, not play party politics with students.

P Dev Anand Pillai: The problem is very clear: it is the mind moulding that had started when the great and revered former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad was in power, and this is now being continued by the lesser leaders who now lead the regime in Putrajaya.

The duty of the teacher is to teach the child to stand up for what is right, and this includes a right to assemble and to protest in peace, for who might know one day, that child might stand up and protest for the teacher who has been wronged, like what had happened to professor Abdul Aziz Bari when he was vilified.

The good values that this teacher talks about is nothing but rubbish that is being ingrained into the kids to make them automatons for the usage of the regime in the future.

Anonymous #36950150: I was former student of SMK Aminuddin Baki, and during my school days, the headmasters had very high competency. It is really sad to note the low level of competency of our present-day school principals, with the exception a few.

AngryBird: One of the reasons why education in Bolehland has gone to the dogs is because we have idiotic school heads who are more interested in indulging in dirty politics.

The principals of both schools reported by Malaysiakini are a real disgrace to the teaching profession. They should quit and join Umno instead.

Lim Chong Leong: They are not politicising education, they are just teaching Umno morals where it is alright to close your eyes to mega-corruption, but not alright to ask for clean and fair elections.

The 1Malaysia government schools teach you Umno morals, and if you go to private schools, you have to pay Umno cronies who own the schools.

If your kids go to 1Malaysia universities, and stand for campus elections as pro-student, they get beaten up by Umno gangsters. If you state your anti-BN opinion, you get barred from classes.

Abuminable: Under the feudal culture of Umno-BN, honesty is punished and dishonesty rewarded. This may have been so for centuries, but this perversion of ethics and corruption of human potential must end now.

Pistoff: Perhaps they should ask, "After 55 years, why are principals today not on par with those of the past?" Or, "Is it appropriate or not to cut the pay teachers who cannot speak good English?"

Idream: Schools have become indoctrination centres and teachers have become political dogs with the blessing of the Education Ministry (no problem with that, says the deputy education minister).
