Low-cost airlines to be based at Don Mueang from today

Starting today, all low-cost carriers operating in Thailand will be based at Don Mueang Airport to take the traffic burden off Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

Thai AirAsia, Thailand’s biggest low-cost operator, will become the first to have a flight take-off from Don Mueang Airport today, Thai News Agency reported.

Aeronautical Radio Thailand (AeroThai) president Squadron Leader Prajak Sajjasophon says his agency is ready for the switch-over, which may double the number of commercial flights operating at Don Mueang airport from 250 per day to as much as 400 per day.
