Puad: Counsellors can be frontliners to prevent LGBT
School counsellors can be the frontliners to curb the spread of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) phenomenon among students, Deputy Education Minister Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said today.
School counsellors can be the frontliners to curb the spread of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) phenomenon among students, Deputy Education Minister Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said today.
To do so, he said, the counsellors should have the knowledge and understand the LGBT symptoms to advise students involved.
“These counselling teachers, if they have the skill, understand the phenomenon can help to motivate, instil awareness among students and bring them back to the right path,” he told a media conference after opening a seminar to help parents deal with LGBT at the State Stadium in Kuala Terengganu today.
The seminar is organised by Yayasan Guru Malaysia Berhad and Putrajaya Consultative Council of Parent-Teacher Associations.
However, Mohd Puad said the responsibility to contain the LGBT symptom should not be burdened on certain parties only, but had to involve all quarters.
