Wanita Umno chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil today said that women's support for Prime Minister Najib Razak and BN has been rising over the years.

She said it was revealed through the findings of a recent attitude survey conducted on women in both urban and rural areas.

NONE "Although the women's support for the prime minister and BN has been on the rise, we cannot take it for granted. We have to continue taking care of them and their well-being," she told reporters after launching Rompin Wanita Umno 'Salam Sayang' programme today.

Shahrizat said the various women empowerment programmes implemented by the government to help the women, such as the Sayang Squad and 1Azam, had also contributed to the increase in women's support for the country's leadership.

She said the 1Azam programme was also proven effective in taking single mothers and their families out of poverty and earning twice as much income.

"Thanks to the government's aid and concern, the women, who used to make money by sewing clothes at home, can now open their own tailoring shops," she said.

Shahrizat, however, did not disclose the percentage of increase in the support for Najib and BN.
