The Public Services Department (PSD) will investigate a claim by an NGO that civil servants were involved in leaking information to human rights group Suaram.

NONE According to Sinar Harian , chief secretary Ali Hamsa ( right ) said action will be taken if the allegations are found to be true.

"As this is an allegation, I will ask the PSD and other agencies to see if the claims are true or not," he was quoted by the daily as saying.

NGO Jaringan Melayu Muda (JMM) had claimed that 10 civil servants had leaked state secrets to Suaram.

Its president Azwanddin Hamzah also claimed to have evidence to show that Suaram had bribed civil servants in order to cover up the fact that it received foreign funds.

"It involves those in ministries and departments including the National Registration Department, Prime Minister's Office and Bank Negara," he claimed.

Suaram has denied the claims and has demanded that JMM furnish the evidence it claims it has.

Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein had on Friday, however, said that he " cannot confirm or deny" the claims, but will monitor the situation in case of security threats.
