PM graces son of Malacca CM's wedding feast 2.0

your say LittleGiant: I am simply dumb-founded. It is claimed that Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is already investigating the Malacca CM son's record-breaking wedding reception held just about a week ago in Malacca.

And here we have our PM and his cabinet members happily attending the high-profile reception for the same wedding event in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday night.

Even if the PM could not make any statement about the MACC investigations, it would have been decent if he and his ministers could have at least avoided the KL reception.

By attending the KL reception, the PM and his entire cabinet have made MACC's investigations look like a joke.

It is like the PM telling the MACC in no uncertain terms that he is not bothered at all with whatever the allegations about the "mega" reception held in Malacca and that whatever the outcome of the MACC investigations, the government is fully behind Mohd Ali Rustam.

It is either BN leaders have absolute disregard for MACC's investigations or that MACC's investigations are just another ‘eyewash' affair.

Mushiro: By his attendance at this grand wedding reception, Najib's message is very clear - Umno leaders can do whatever they want with state funds and even for their own personal functions.

And MACC will investigate with the intention of clearing Ali Rustam of any wrong.

Fair Play: The truth is the PM must be seen to support the Malacca CM, at least in public, to demonstrate Umno's unity. Umno is at the crossroad of its existence. Unity, at least on the surface, is of utmost importance going into GE13.

Changeagent: "‘I have waited for this for a while and the wedding has even caught the interest of many, including certain parties,' said Ali Rustam, to ripples of laughter from the guests."

These people are so far detached from reality that they think being accused of abusing state funds is a very funny matter.

And this further display of unmitigated extravagance is nothing more than a deliberate snub at those who have questioned the source of this lavish wedding on a chief minister's salary.

And he thinks this is all legitimised and sanitised because a whole bunch of other high-ranking despots turned up to grace the event?

He and the rest of these miscreants are in their final throes of political life, so I guess they have to make the most of it in the short space of time left. Adios, you bunch of dacoits (robbers). Your day of reckoning is nigh.

Whatsup: Despite the looming GE13, Umno-BN's excessiveness, intimidation and transgressions continue unabated with total disregard to the rakyat whom they are to serve - the very reason they are elected to form the government.

Any sensible politicians would definitely tone down rakyat-unfriendly actions in their attempt to win votes. Yet we have this bunch of leaders who continue with their antics without fear of reprisal from the rakyat.

This could only tell us either they are damn stupid (obviously) or worst, Umno is certain and without doubt to win GE13.

Lynn: Every parent is proud and happy when thir child marries but all of us don't have a state-sponsored wedding for more than 100,000 guests. That's not a parent's pride, that's vanity and abuse of power.

Just Sp: I am mortified to see royals and ministers attending the wedding reception. After all the noise and the accusations, it is now clear there will be nothing done even if MACC says it is investigating.

If the prime minister had any brains, he would have stayed away for the simple reason that the whole function is tainted.

By attending the function, he has just endorsed the abuse of state funds, and that it will all be fine.

Anonymous #18452573: The royals and BN are so tied together that it would be important and critical for Pakatan Rakyat to connect with the royals.

The royals will accept a new government if they know both Pakatan and the royals can work as allies for the betterment of the rakyat of Malaysia.

iKnock: When Ali Rustam was found guilty of vote buying, he was disqualified from contesting the deputy president's post of Umno Baru. Is it not the case that vote-buying is equivalent to bribery?

Why was it that he was allowed to continue as CM of Melaka?

Onyourtoes: How do you describe this kind of culture? It is called the hardening of arrogance of power and wealth. You see, they can't see anything wrong with all these anymore. It is their right to flaunt their obscene wealth and power.

Opulence is their way of life, their culture. Because they can't see their own baloney, they will continue giving speeches expounding the virtue of moderation, frugality and honest living to their nincompoop followers.

Gerard Lourdesamy: This is typical Umno arrogance. Ali Rustam couldn't give a damn about the MACC investigation because he knows nothing will come of it. So he goes ahead and uses the resources of the state government and the local council with impunity.

Why should the rakyat continue to tolerate this sort of abuse from Umno for another five years? It is a disgrace that Najib can pontificate about corruption but cannot take care of his own backyard.

Abuminable: There it was, a large gathering of the spawn of lesser gods before they fade from the memory of mankind. Every single one of them is a diehard upholder of tradition, not one is capable of innovation or radical change.

They impede the growth of all other life around them with the dark shadows they cast.
