Penang Pakatan Youth leaders have strongly condemned the act of vandalism perpetrated by certain quarters on the vehicle of their opponent, state Gerakan Youth chief Oh Tong Keong.

NONE In a statement endorsed by the Youth wings of DAP, PAS and PKR, the leaders said that the sabotage and violence on Oh, whose car was splashed with red paint and the windscreen smashed, was “worrying”.

The trio called on the police to pay serious attention to the matter.

They expressed sympathy towards Oh, saying that they hope he and his family will rise up to face the challenges.

The Youth leaders concurred with BN that incidents of violence towards politicians and their parties are increasing lately.

They cited several incidents of vandalism such as on billboards, the DAP headquarters in Jalan Rangoon and Oh’s vehicle.

“These incidents are disappointing and have tarnished the image of Penang as a state that is clean and harmonious,” said Penang Dapsy chief Ng Wei Aik.

NONE “We call on those who are responsible and those who have information about the perpetrators to come forward and cooperate with the authorities,” said state PKR Youth chief Amir Ghazali ( left ).

“This is to ensure that similar incidents do not happen in the future and the harmony between the different communities in Penang can be preserved,” added state PAS Youth chief Mohd Yusni Mat Piah.

They also called on the police to act swiftly and probe thoroughly all the incidents of violence and take the necessary action in order to maintain the harmony and peace enjoyed by all citizens of Penang.

State BN chief Teng Chang Yeow also condemned the act, but put the blame on the coalition’s opponent, who he said was not happy that Oh was exposing the wrongdoings of the state government.
