Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob said no temporary occupational lease (TOL) for land or licence had been issued in Cameron Highlands recently.

Commenting on reports that land in Cameron Highlands was being cleared for development by irresponsible people, Adnan said he had already directed the Cameron Highlands district officer to carry out a detailed investigation.

“I have already instructed the Cameron Highlands district officer to check on such claims,” he said after attending a dialogue session with officers and staff of Wisma Persekutuan in Kuantan today.

He said individuals or related agencies would also be investigated.

“Hill slopes in Cameron Highlands cannot be developed because no new TOL was issued. Existing TOL will be renewed once in three years,” he said.

According to the report that appeared in the front page of a local daily, people living in the area had complained of rampant land clearing activities on hilly slopes of Cameron Highlands for the past four months.
