Hoslan Hussin, an imam who was jailed for throwing a slipper at a federal court bench, will be freed from the Kajang prison tomorrow.

According to his wife Noorliza Mat Isa, 43, she has been asked to be at the parole office at Bandar Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur to receive Hoslan.

NONE Noorliza said that she was grateful that that family, save for their youngest child who is currently hospitalised, will be able to celebrate Eid al-Adha together.

"Praise be to god. We will be able to celebrate the event with the imam. God willing, we will be able to be with the imam after zohor prayers," she told Malaysiakini when contacted.

On Febuary 22, Hoslan hurled his slipper at the three-member bench after failing to obtain leave for his appeal against the Wilayah Persekutuan Islamic Council's decision to evict him from the Ar Rahimah mosque in Kampung Pandan, Kuala Lumpur in 1999.

Furious at the verdict, Hoslan flung a slipper at the bench which narrowly missed one of the judges. He picked up another slipper and hurled it again, hitting the deputy registrar.

Following this, Hoslan was slapped with a one-year jail sentence which he began serving in March.

Critics, such as veteran lawyer and opposition lawmaker Karpal Singh, have claimed that Hoslan's punishment was excessive .
