Where Do We Go From Here?: The Automated Enforcement System (AES) is on profit-sharing with the government on the penalties collected. That is not right, the profit-sharing scheme will give them incentives to issue more summonses and penalties.

If the government is interested in safety, put up clear signs to make people drive slower. Ambush is for warfare, it should not be done on civilian roads.

If AES is in place and BN falls at the 13th general election, they can't cancel their summonses at their whims and fancies, right? Anyway I support the cancellation of this stupid crony money-making AES project.

Ipoh2: AES does little to reduce the number of deaths on the road. Most deaths are motorcyclists who are underage, don't have licence and don't wear helmets. Many motorcyclists nowadays speed through junctions with traffic lights, not bothering if the light is red.

They ride in the middle of the road and ride on the right lane of multilane expressways. Deaths from car accidents, while deplorable, can't compare with deaths from motorcycle accidents.

Speeding may increase the risks of accident and death. This is compounded by the inexperience of many drivers on the road today. The government and police seem to think that they are effective when more traffic summonses are issued to offenders.

The actual fact is that they have failed miserably because so many people can choose to simply ignore the law. More than enforcement, education and promotion of driving/riding safety must be carried out often, as well as being courteous to other motorists when on the road.

The fines or revenues collected should be shared 50:50 between the federal government and the state, and be used specifically to improve roads and public transport system.

If you do, please put ample signboards along the way, please do not keep motorist guessing. We must have the mentality of the officers in developed nations, only then can we be fair.

Two Eye Ball: What a caring government. Suddenly they become so concerned for the rakyat's safety on the road when, on the other hand, they are forcing us to buy cars that are crap and not so safe.
