Three incinerators with the green technology and environmental friendly concept will be built in the country, Housing and Local Government Minister Chor Chee Heung said.

He said the incinerators were planned to be built at Taman Beringin in Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Payung in Johor, while the third, either in Selangor or Melaka.

The ministry, together with the Economic Planning Unit and the Public-Private Cooperation Unit at the Prime Minister's Department, is preparing a working paper on the proposed project, he told a media conference after opening an exhibition booth by the Waste Management Association Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.

It was held in conjunction with the 3rd International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference.

Chor said the tender for the project, which would also be opened to international companies, is expected to be called in March next year.

He expressed confidence that the building of the incinerators would help to resolve problems on solid waste management.

The ministry, he said would organise roadshows to explain to the people on the proposed building of the incinerators.
