Traffic snarls occurred in several main roads in the city due to flash floods following heavy rain this evening.

Heavy rain lasting an hour from 4 pm caused major traffic congestion at Jalan Kuching heading to Jalan Duta and Jalan Segambut heading to Jalan Duta, following flash floods, said a Kuala Lumpur traffic police spokesperson.

A Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department Operations Room spokesperson said the flash floods began to recede after 5.30pm and that there had been no reports of trees collapsing.

Meanwhile, a Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) spokesperson said there was also heavy congestion in several roads, including from Sungai Besi heading to Kampung Malaysia and from Kuchai Lama towards to the Kuchai intersection.

LLM advised road users to be cautious when driving during the current unpredictable weather.
