Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz expressed his support for the plight of the families of the 1948 Batang Kali massacre victims today.

He did this by signing a petition aimed at gathering 10,000 signatures from Malaysians to pressure the British PM to apologise for the killings.

NONE "This is for the families of the victims of the Batang Kali massacre. It is a fight for justice and to know what actually happened.

"I have no hesitation as this is a just cause," the de facto law minister told a press conference at the Parliament lobby.

Nazri said he would be sending a copy of the petition, along with an appeal letter, to all MPs asking for their support by signing the petition.

"I have signed the petition and I am asking my colleagues in Parliament to do the same."

Nazri also pledged to consult his colleagues in Wisma Putra on whether there could be other means for the Malaysian government to intercede on behalf of the families of the massacre victims, either through legal or diplomatic means.

The petition is part of a campaign mounted by the Batang Kali Massacre action committee.

It comes in the form of a postcard which the public are asked to sign and mail directly to the British PM, urging him to take action over the matter.
